HAHAHA! This is EXACTLY how I felt about the traffic on the way back home from SF! The sign read, “Expect stop and reduce of speed for the next 13 miles” in the fuggen desert/mountain/hills of nowhere! HAAHA!

First Year of College; Wrap Up/Thoughts

So today I officially ended my first year of college. All I can say is that I’ve learned a lot, almost every thing I needed to know, and learn. Lessons. Procrastination, may have worked in high school, but college is no place to procrastinate!

Independence. I’ve learned that once you hit college you’re all on your own! Almost everybody is, so you’re not really a loner the fact that everyone is literally on their  just tryna finish what the have to do! Weather it’s at the cafeteria, outside the tables doing work, or even the library. And no more getting babied, counselors are not gonna buzz you in to fix your problems. You’re gonna have to go to them yourself any problems you might face, go through.

Money. College is no joke, so don’t take your classes lightly to the point where you’re slacking off. Although most classes you don’t even have to show cos the professor does not take roll, still be there. I’ve learned that missing one day can actually make a difference on what you missed! And don’t fail a class cos you underestimated it, cos not only it looks bad on your record, but you’re gonna have to pay for that class again until you pass! And having a job is an important(although I have not gotten a job yet), cos being broke sucks when it happens! Oh, and unless you have the money or scholarships, qualify for Financial Aid to pay for your ass in Universities and Cal States, I suggest attend community college first. Reason being, one, it’s much cheaper. So instead of paying $200+ a unit just for General Ed courses, you could be paying at least $45 a unit in community colleges. And two, you shouldn’t be moping around just cos you didn’t get in to the Cal State, University that you wanted. What I’ve learned is that you actually have a way better chance, usually a promised admissions of getting into them if you transfer from community, to the bigger school.

Don’t cheat. Even if you’re slick enough. Today while taking my final exam, I actually witnessed for the first time a person caught cheating by the professor and he just took his papers and kicked him out.

Most IMPORTANTLY. Take college seriously. Take your shit seriously. And I mean SERIOUSLY. Relationships can wait; people in relationships, don’t let anything affect you; friends, if they still stuck along with you, there’s always the weekend for fun.

P.S. Chances. Even though I let some chances slip away, it’s all good. The last month of this school year, I’ve learned to live every moment, rather than waiting for just one moment. And to just stay focused on what lies ahead than stopping from distractions.
